A multilevel pick module integrates various rack and product flow components, to facilitate order fulfillment.
The pick module consists of the support structure (typically beams spanning rack uprights), flooring, handrail, stairways and landings. Product is then stored in selective rack, pallet flow rack, case flow rack and/or shelving and can be picked to conveyor, totes, carts, and pallet jacks, allowing the module to be customized and expanded to fit the evolving needs of the facility.
Pick modules utilize gravity flow to transport product from the replenishment aisle to the pick location. Selective rack within the module is used to replenish the pick locations. By utilizing the vertical cube of the warehouse, pick modules consolidate valuable space, thereby reducing the distance between picks. Paper pick lists, RF technology, pick to light and pick to voice can all be employed in a multi level pick module.
By combining dense storage of multiple SKU’s with a first in-first out rotation of product, and increased pick rates, multi level pick modules are the perfect choice for a high throughput warehouse.
