Tru-Flow Pallet Flow

Pallet flow rack is a multi deep, high density storage system with a first in first out or FIFO method of storage and retrieval.

Pallet flow rack consists of upright steel frames connected by horizontal steel beams. Roller lanes are installed on the beams at a slight incline. Pallet loads are delivered into the rear of the rack assisted by Entry Guides. The load then flows to the front face via the gravity assisted roller lanes until it reaches the pallet stop.

Product density is high within a pallet flow structure, aisle frontage is only required at the first location of the supply and discharge ends of the flow lanes. The benefits of a high density, first in first out system are maximized when installed in grocery and drug distribution facilities when the rotation of perishables is critical and the cost of warehouse space is high. Properly designed lane depths and SKU zones will maximize storage utilization.

Design consideration must account for empty storage space inherited by broken stack loss or honeycombing. Also unavoidable is the height requirement dictated by the required incline, especially in large or deep bay systems. Pallet flow rack can also act as a transport of the unit load if the warehouse layout is a flow through design. Received pallets can be loaded into the flow lanes and delivered directly to the shipping area.
